Thai Medicinal Plant Recipe Database “MANOSROI III”
The Thai medicinal plant recipe database “MANOSROI III” is the database which collects the Thai medicinal plant recipe from several regions of Thailand (northern, central, southern and northeast region). This database has been developed from database “MANOSROI I” and “MANOSROI II” thatProf. Dr. Jiradej Manosroi and his team have developed for more than 30 years. The database “MANOSROI III” has contained 723 medicinal textbooks recipes including 355 Lanna (northern region) medicinal textbooks and 368 Thai traditional medicinal textbooks. The Lanna medicinal textbook have been collected from 7 provinces in the northern part of Thailand (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lamphun, Lampang, Phrae and Nan). The Lanna Thai medicinal recipes have been recorded as the Lanna scripts. So, it has to be translated. The first translation is to translate from the Lanna alphabet to the Thai alphabet. After that, the second translation step is to translate the text from the first translation to the understandable central Thai language. For the Thai traditional medicinal textbooks, they have already been recorded in the Thai alphabet. So, the translation is performed starting from the second step. In the last step, the translation will be checked and corrected by the etymologists. All data are then recorded in the Thai medicinal plant recipe database “MANOSROI III”. This database can be searched with keywords including recipes, the specific name of the diseases, symptoms of the diseases and herbal plants and the report can be printed out. It can be used and developed for tests and researches in the laboratory which will be the short-cut for the research.
The Thai medicinal plant recipe database “MANOSROI III” has been developed from database “MANOSROI I”by Prof. Dr. Jiradej and Prof. Dr. Aranya Manosroi since 1997. More than 83,000 recipes which have been translated and checked for the correction are recorded in the database (updated on January 1, 2014). It will contain over 200,000 recipes when the database is completed which will be beneficial for drug, cosmetic and food supplement research and commercialization. In fact, these medicinal plant recipes have been used for the treatment in human for long time. They have not been tested in vitro and animal before using in human. The application in human in the past can be compared as the clinical trial phase of drug research and development step at present. Only the effective medicinal plant recipes have been recorded and continually used. The record in the recipes always indicated that the patients can be cured and no death or uncure will occure. Thus, these medicinal plant recipes have been proved to be effective and safe in the preliminary test.
